Iteris Joins Sustainable Intensification 2016

Challenge Advisory Partners With Iteris For Sustainable Intensification 2016

Iteris partners with Challenge Advisory at the Agri-business Summit, Brazil: Sustainable Intensification 25-26th October 2016

On April 22, 2016, Challenge Advisory announced a project partnership with Iteris, a global leader in applied informatics for transportation and agriculture, who will be attending Sustainable Intensification 2016 this year in Rio de Janeiro.

Iteris collects, aggregates and analyses big data on climate, agronomy and land surfaces to make agriculture more sustainable, producing healthier crops and more productive farms in general. Having provided agronomic weather information to major agribusinesses for over a decade, Iteris leverages patented technologies to provide precise, location-based, and agriculturally relevant information for decision support through the ClearAg Platform.

The Iteris ClearAg Platform tests the performance of inputs on a crop, given certain weather and soil conditions. There is also an accompanying mobile app, ClearAg Mobile, that collects precise information on field accessibility and optimal timing for planting, irrigating, fertilising, pest & disease control, harvesting and overall health and protection of a crop.

Tom Blair, senior vice president of Iteris’ Performance Analytics Division, notes: “In the immediate future, the agriculture industry and scientific community must find a panacea, a solution to the challenge of doubling global crop production output to meet the projected population growth curve, despite decreasing arable land and fresh water, and all with less labor resources. To find the solution, global agribusinesses must leverage the science and technology being applied in other industries and create new methods and applications of technology to solve these problems.

“Precise environmental sensing and modeling, automation and software analytics driven by massive data sets all will play a part in how we will feed, clothe and supply renewable energy to power our future. Iteris’ ClearAg will help empower this environment and Iteris is eager to work with innovators, growers and government agencies to affect positive change in agriculture practices in Brazil, across the Americas and throughout the world.”

Commenting on Iteris’ involvement, head of Challenge Advisory’s Agri-business, Dr. Aubrey Longmore said: “Iteris have an impressive track record in applied informatics, and we believe that applied informatics will be an important solution for Brazilians in the 21st century farm.We have the utmost confidence that Iteris will be able to educate Brazilian farmers in the proper usage of their data in order to fully understand and fulfill the potential of their crops.”
