Diversity case study – Defence

After a strategic review, a European Military Organisation realised that it was having difficulties in attracting and recruiting talented individuals from diverse, minority and young generational backgrounds.

Overview:

  • Marketing and outreach campaigns are on track for creating a targeted network of 100,000 individuals from the specified diversity and age recruitment demographics.

  • With the strategies that Challenge Advisory has put in place, this targeted trend is expected to continue for long into the future.

Challenge:

After a strategic review, a European Military Organisation realised that it was having difficulties in attracting and recruiting talented individuals from diverse, minority and young generational backgrounds. Challenge Advisory were approached to provide a solution to this pressing recruitment issue. The brief was to re-inspire and re-engage these targeted populations in the opportunities presented by a military career.

Task:

Challenge Advisory’s strategy team came together to understand and interrogate the current social, economic, political and organisational barriers that were affecting the intake of these select communities. From this research, it was clear that the Client was not effectively utilising all media networks and modern communication platforms that they had at their disposal. Although they offered extremely appealing and appropriate careers for its targeted recruits, they were not reaching said candidates through the marketing, promotion and recruitment strategies they had in place.

Outcome:

At present, this is still an ongoing campaign meaning no final recruitment figures or statistics can be quoted. However, marketing and outreach campaigns are on track for creating a targeted network of 100,000 individuals from the specified diversity and age recruitment demographics across the campaign’s multiple outreach channels. Present figures are 10% above time-line milestone projections, indicating that the work of Challenge Advisory will enable engagement figures to be met earlier than scheduled. This has created a healthy projection and outlook in relation to the demographic breakdown of recruitment for 2018, an improvement that would not have been achieved without the intervention and assistance of Challenge Advisory. With the strategies that Challenge Advisory has put in place, this targeted trend is expected to continue for long into the future.
